Humanitarian program
EMMA Association is committed to supporting refugee women from Ukraine and helping them in the field of sexual and reproductive health, with particular focus on the needs of pregnant women. We offer personalized support to refugee women who come to us in matters affecting their reproductive health, with special attention to contraception and family planning, the period of childbearing, and cases of termination of pregnancy: humanitarian@emmaegyesulet.hu, 06-70-6223346.This is how we help
Information about the Hungarian healthcare system
Our colleagues provide information about the process of maternity care, answer quiestions about giving birth, and provide information about contraception after birth. In cases of legal questions we recommend our partner organisations.We escort women to health facilities
We help book appointments for the necessary examinations and we accompany women to checkups and examinations, in order to help women get access to maternity care, and facilitate communication between healthworkers and pregnant women.Emotional support
We provide psychosocial support in the form of personal, supportive conversations.Administration
We also provide help with administrative issues regarding newborns (e.g. birth certificate, declaration of paternity, citizen registration). This service is available for women who are already supported by us during their pregnancy.Donations
We provide various supplies to the women we support that they need, such as hygiene and sanitary products, medicine and basic supplies for newborns. Donating is not the main focus of the Associations work, thus we are only able to provide the above mentioned donations to women that we are supporting on a longer term. We can help those who only need donations by referring them to our partner organisations.Contraception and other support
We first and foremost want to support the self-determination of women and their choices regarding their bodies and having children (according to UN guidelines - International Conference on Population and Development, Cairo, 1994) , with an emphasis on prevention. We provide information regarding contraception and support access to contraceptive devices. In cases of serious crisis situations, at the request of women, we provide information about the legally regulated options and procedures for safe termination of pregnancy in Hungary.We await your feedback!
