Bulgária észak-nyugati részéről, Byala Slatina városából érkeztek az Alsózsolcai Közösségi Dúlaszolgálathoz ma vendégeink. Ezek a roma nők már 20 éve tartanak fenn anyaközpontot a nők támogatására. Kezükbe véve sorsukat, közösségi összefogással sokszor sikerül nekik átírni olyan szerepelvárásokat, amik károsak, vagy visszatartó erővel bírnak a helyi roma nők számára. Hallhattuk, hogy ennek köszönhetően a településről egyre több nő tanul tovább egyetemen, és ezen törekvések mögé a helyi férfiak is be tudnak állni partnerként.

Ezek a nők ott vannak egymás mellett a legnehezebb élethelyzetekben, és számos programot szerveznek a lakosság egészségügyi hozzáférésének javítására. Annak ellenére, hogy most találkoztak először a dúlaság fogalmával, nagy érdeklődéssel és elismeréssel hallgatták az alsózsolcai nők tapasztalatait.
Elköszönéskor már a kezdeményezés helyben való meghonosításáról gondolkodtunk közösen. Reményeink szerint folytatjuk!
Guests from the town of Byala Slatina in the north-west of Bulgaria visited the Community Doula Service at Alsózsolca today. These guest are Roma women, who have been running a mother centre for 20 years to support women. By taking control of their destiny, through community collaboration, they often succeed in rewriting some role expectations that are harmful or discouraging for local Roma women. We heard from their stories, that as a result, more and more women from the community attend to university, and some local men supports these efforts as a partner.
These women are there for each other in the most difficult situations of life, and organise many programmes to improve access to health care for the population. Despite this being the first time they have heard of the concept of doula care, they listened to the experiences of the women of Alsózsolca with great interest and appreciation.
As they said goodbye, we were already thinking together about how to make the doula initiative into Bulgaria. We will be happy continue further with the ideas!
